I would love to hear more about her...she was my great grandmother and I never met her since she died long before I was born. Thank you so much for stopping by...I have moved my content to a new website where I'll soon add more images of ward...you are welcome to take a look... http://www.whiteoakattic.com I have a page just for Ward WV and my genealogy - I'm in the process of building the site so it is still a little weak but I expect to have it loaded up over the next 2 months..

We lived next door to John and Helen Szasz in Big Hollow and I used to write letters for Mrs. Szasz because she could not write in English. She was a wonderful lady.

Hi Kathy,
I would be happy to find a way to upload the information to the blog if you would like to send copies (either by scanning it or typing it into a relevant document) to make available out here to all who are researching the area. You can mail it to White Oak Attic, P. O. Box 411, Saginaw, AL 35137. Please let others know about the blog. I hope to create a community of people interested in Ward to make it easy to share information and of course swap stories :-). Take care ~ Lisa I.

My grandparents were Fred and Ethel Moore Durham and George and Jessie Harrison Tucker. My parents were/are: Katie Ellen Durham (passed away in 2004) and Harold Preston (Tiny (teeny) Babe) Tucker.
Aunts and Uncles include: Jack Durham, Helen Durham Hunter, Lita Durham Jones, George Tucker, Blaine Tucker, PF Peck Tucker, Robert "Bob" Tucker, Arla Tucker, and Mayme Tucker Martin Palmer.
I would love to find out more about my family especially my mother's side. The Durham's. My grandfather, Fred worked in the mines and they lived in Horsemill for a while. My grandmother's maiden name was Moore. She was Ethel Moore Durham.
I have some information from my father HP (teeny babe) Tucker, and would gladly send you copies of what I have if you want. My family was also in Cedar Grove and Glasgow, and all the way up the river to Charleston.
Thank you for what you do!

Hi. I have been researching my father and mother. Woodrow w. Hundley and Nellie Mae Estep Hundley. Last name mispelled by social security office Hunley, my father was nicknamed Brother. Patsy Tucker is my wonderful cousin. Do you have any information on my parents etc?

Thanks for visiting and commenting Deborah, glad you like the site. I don't personally have a lot of familiarity with the families at Ward but my mother does and my aunt still lives right on the spot that was once the center of the community (although you would never know it if someone didn't tell you). I can certainly ask them what they know and I can look through the reunion books - tons of names and family photos are in them.

Thank you for the lovely website that answered one question. What is the church in the picture I have? It's obviously the Ward Community Church. However, I have no idea why my mother would have this beautiful panoramic photo of the church with the entire congregation. It's about 4ft by 1ft. The picture was taken on June 19, 1927. It was taken by R.E. Ribble of Mt Hope. I feel certain that I have kinfolk in the picture. Are you familiar with this photo or the people of this congregation.
